Day 1 - Travel

So the day started off with an early start at the airport - 5.30am to be exact!  There were a few girls bright eyed and bushy tailed whilst there were some that were a little weary!

We finally boarded our flight and were waiting for take off to be told by the captain that there were some engineering problems on the plane which were being finalised, a little unsettling to say the least, however after waiting for sometime we got the all clear and were finally able to get going!

We had a few first time fliers, Marisa & Bre but they managed the first flight beautifully.  Congratulations also to Frankie who managed to keep her travel sickness under control and we landed in Sydney in one piece!!

As our flight was late to land in Sydney we only had a short time to make it to our connecting flght - just enough time to do a bathroom stop, get our new tickets and get organised for our next flight.

The flight to hobart was a little quieter as a few of the team had a little cat nap.  The flight went quickly but we were all tested to see if we had woken up when we hit turbulance on the descent into Hobart.  A bit of bumpy ride was had by all and it was a little hairy as we had a few feeling a little queezy but the team held it together and landed without any incidents!

There were some issues with the collection of our hire cars as they had left one of the vehicles in the city for us to collect.  After some brupt conversation we ended up waiting at the airport for our vehicle to be delivered.  What a better way to pass the time, then to take over Hobart airport and take a few team piccies ...

There's no better way to pass the time quickly with a game of charades (not sure what Amy was thinking though ....)

After we finally got our cars and made it out of the airport we made our way to our accommodation.  We were getting really hungry and ready for lunch so check in was very quick and we went for a walk to the Hobart mall to get our lunch from Subway.  It didn't take long for us to inhale our sandwiches and cookies and in no time we headed back to the apartments.

Now we had a little bit of time to get checked in properly before we headed off for an adventure.  The competition organisers have arranged a scavenger hunt around Hobart and we had some photos to take!

Our leisurely stroll started off by heading to the wharf.  There is never a dull moment with this team ..

Our next mission was to find Salamanca Place.  After some good navigating we found our first scavenger hunt item - to get a photo at Salamanca Place.

Our second mission - do a handstand in front of parliament house.  After a little walking we found what we were looking for ...

That wasn't all we got up to though,

It was starting to get a little bit late and cooling down so we made our way back to the accommodation ..

Whilst the amazing chaperones were preparing our dinner, we got a chance to finish our banner (and treated to a little bit of popcorn).  The banner looks great and we can't wait to hang it up at the gym tomorrow.

Thank you to the chaperones for preparing an awesome dinner, lasagne, asian salad, green salad, garlic bread, carrot, cucumber & jacket potatos.  It is definately what we all needed after a long day.  Everybody is ready for showertime and bed.

Sweet dreams to our level 4 team who have their competition tomorrow!

Until then ....
